Under section 258 of the Workers Compensation Act, the person the work is done for can be held liable for a contractor’s unpaid WorkSafeBC assessment, and a contract clause doesn’t move that onto the contractor. A clearance letter addressed to the contractor doesn’t cover you. WorkSafeBC explains it here.
The usual practice is one letter before the work starts and another before final payment, so the whole contract period is covered.
